The newsgroup is a public forum, so a few guidelines have been set over the years to ensure that the newsgroup is used productively in its intended form. 1. Do NOT post anything that is demeaning and derogatory. This prevents productive work from occuring. 2. Do NOT post in any language that is not standardly used in this University. (Any language that anyone does not understand is strictly rude). 3. DO post any questions you have regarding assignments and course topics. 4. DO post CORRECT help to any relevant questions on the newsgroup. 5. Do NOT help others too much. (E.g., Do NOT post any type of solutions or code. Complete code and code fragments fall into this category). 6. DO read the newsgroup before any post. Someone might have already asked the same question or a hint may have already been provided. 7. Do NOT post anything that is irrelevant to the course (say an invitation to a campus-wide party at your place this Friday). 8. DO be polite. It helps when trying to ask for help. 9. DO contact the tutors (cs126@student.cs.uwaterloo.ca) if you have a question that may be too specic. Otherwise for general questions, do post to the newsgroup.
